"cook Island,fidos reef,New South Wales

29 September 2007.We decided on a trip out to fidos reef,of fingal head.This is not the most paddle friendly kayak spot to fish,for a number of reasons.It is very exposed to the weather.Also there is an extremly strong north to south current that screams over the bommies,so definately a bit of fitness is required.I couldnt jig up any suitable bait,so decided to pull a rapala x-rap,and a halco lazer pro.I only managed numerios small bonitos,which i released.My friend clive did manage to catch this nice 4.1kg snapper on the closer reef

New South Wales

28 September 2007.With a prediction of 1 to 2ft swell,and gentle ne seabreezes it was a good day to be out offshore on the water.The fishing action is still very slow,and you have to work hard for fish.Managed to jig up a few live yakkas and they were put out on the normal circle hook.There was lots of sea life today,with a huge turtle showing up,some dolphins and a whale sighting.Also a shark sighting.Well it wasnt to long before this 7.5kg mac tuna came along.Its a pity they are such bad eating fish,as they sure do give a good account for themselves.definately fun to catch.I then trolled out wider and had another pull on my live yakka,but some how i managed to pull the circle hook out.(suspect i struck to early??).After that it was time to come in

Jew fish

I have only managed small school jewfish of a kayak.This one taken of a reef at Kingscliff NSW.But you do get the giants around.This one was caught on fresh strips of bonito bait

Yellowfin tuna

A good fish to catch from a kayak.It gives a good account for itself and fights in long arcing motions.this one was caught of the pinacle in New South Wales.They atack lures,livebait,trolled dead bait and take of in fast first runs.They make very good eating.

Mac tuna

A Mac Tuna caught of New South Wales.Nicknamed the "jellybean".Not the best eating fish,but definately give a good account for themselves and are good fun..

black Marlin

Plenty of Black marlin move in close with the east australia current from December.Two were hooked that day,but unfortunately both were lost.the second one towed two kayaks tied together for 6km!!!!
