29 September 2007.We decided on a trip out to fidos reef,of fingal head. This is not the most paddle friendly kayak spot to fish, for a number of reasons. It is very exposed to the weather. Also there is an extremly strong north to south current that screams over the bommies,so definately a bit of fitness is required.I couldnt jig up any suitable bait,so decided to pull a rapala x-rap,and a halco lazer pro.I only managed numerios small bonitos, which i released. My friend clive did manage to catch this nice 4.1kg snapper on the closer reef

New South Wales
28 September 2007.With a prediction of 1 to 2ft swell, and gentle ne seabreezes it was a good day to be out offshore on the water. The fishing action is still very slow, and you have to work hard for fish.Managed to jig up a few live yakkas and they were put out on the normal circle hook. There was lots of sea life today, with a huge turtle showing up,some dolphins and a whale sighting. Also a shark sighting.Well it wasnt to long before this 7.5kg mac tuna came along. Its a pity they are such bad eating fish,as they sure do give a good account for themselves.definately fun to catch.I then trolled out wider and had another pull on my live yakka, but some how i managed to pull the circle hook out.(suspect i struck to early??).After that it was time to come in

Snapper
A snapper caught sunday in September in northern New South Wales. The weather was terrible at the launch with a 20 knot southerly blowing, and large thunderstorms rolling out to sea from the land!!!..I launched any way but soon realized this could be a mistake with large bolts of lightning shooting out from the heavens below...and here i am paddling around with a carbon fibre paddle!!!...so i made the decision to return to shore. As soon as i did the weather cleared up,so i paddled back out, jigged up a few live yakkas,i am glad i did as a came home with this nice snapper..the weather was perfect all day...can you believe it
The Hoodlum
This monster was caught in New South Wales....Kingfish are such a strong fighting fish and prove a real challenge to kayak fisherman. The stamina and brute force of such a fish is highlighted more when on a kayak, and its only then that you realize that only a few are landed compared to hooked!!!...After getting towed half way to New Zealand i put my rod down as i was to sore to put another live bait out!!!
